As if the country music series didn’t already have enough drama, “Nashville” will be turning up the heat this fall with the addition of two characters. Alexa Vega and Brette Taylor will both be joining the cast according to an Aug. 12 report by Fox News. From the sounds of it, both of them are potential trouble for a couple of male characters, Gunnar and Deacon to be specific.

Vega, whom fans may know from her roles in “Spy Kids” and “The Tomorrow People,” has been signed for a three-episode story arc. She’ll play Kiley, the first love and former high school sweetheart of Gunnar (Sam Palladio). She’ll turn up in Nashville as a single mother to a ten year old son – one she had at a tender age – looking for the stability that’s been missing from their lives. Yikes!

Brette Taylor, from “Return to Paradise," also has a recurring role but no word on how long she’ll be sticking around. Her character, Pam, is Luke Wheeler’s (Will Chase) newest backup singer. She is a talented performer who catches the eye of Deacon and becomes his muse. Apparently this is going to be a complex relationship as her dark past is revealed.

International Business Times reported that Broadway singing star Laura Benanti will also be joining the cast. She’ll play Sadie Stone, a rising country music star. She will become friends with Rayna (Connie Britton) but friends in this series always seem to have and adversarial edge. She may be the new foil to Rayna since Rayna and Juliette are friendlier these days.

What do you think of all the new cast additions? Are you looking forward to the potential drama each of these ladies promise?

“Nashville” Season 3 will air its premiere with live musical performances on Wednesday, Sept. 24 on ABC. Check back often for more spoilers and news.
