NASCAR: Watkins Glen Int'l invites fans to 2014 Daytona 500 viewing party

Watkins Glen International will host a viewing party for fans of the NASCAR Daytona 500 on February 23. The information was announced via press release from WGI on February 4.

Watkins Glen International welcomes all fans of NASCAR and The Glen to watch what has come to be known as the "Great American Race" during a Daytona 500 Viewing Party in the Media Center on Sunday, Feb. 23.

Doors will open at noon with the race starting at 1 p.m. Admission at the door is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages six to 10. Children five and under receive free admission. There will be random drawings for door prizes throughout the day and a 50/50 cash raffle will benefit this year's chosen charity, Autism Speaks.

The track will serve buffet-style food at no additional cost. According to WGI, the menu will include hamburgers, Sahlen’s Hot Dogs, Yancey’s Fancy Cheese, potato salad and chocolate chip cookies. All beverages will be available for purchase at a discount.

While the race is going on, there will be a silent auction featuring items from The Glen, NASCAR Teams and WGI sponsors, including, but not limited to: Cheez-It, Coca-Cola, Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards, Toyota and Zippo. The silent auction will be cash only.

Watkins Glen International is located in the small upstate New York village of Watkins Glen, at the Southern tip of Seneca Lake in New York's Finger Lakes region.

The 2014 racing season at The Glen includes the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship during Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, June 26-29, as well as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Cheez-It™ 355 and Nationwide Series Zippo 200 from August 7-10. The Glenora Wine Cellars United States Vintage Grand Prix, an annual race event of historic race cars, takes place September 5-7.
