NASCAR: Watkins Glen Int'l adds series to Cheez-It 355 at The Glen

A new racing series has been added to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Cheez-It 355 at The Glen weekend for 2014. The announcement was made via press release from Watkins Glen International on Tuesday, December 17.

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will run on Friday, August 8, as part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Cheez-It 355 at The Glen. The race event will add to not only the Sprint Cup race on Sunday but also the NASCAR Nationwide series race, The Zippo 200, run on Saturday.

The K&N Pro Series East first competed at Watkins Glen International in 1993 and returned multiple times between then and 2009. Notable winners from the K&N Pro Series at The Glen include: Bill Elliott (1993), Terry Labonte (1994, 1995), Ron Fellows (1998, 2000), Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (1999), and Ryan Truex (2009).

WGI President Michael Printup said about the new addition, "The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East is a great addition to our already action-packed Cheez-Itâ„¢ 355 at The Glen weekend. We are thrilled to have this outstanding series back at WGI and know our fans are excited too."

The Glen is one of only two road courses on the 16-event schedule for NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.
