On Sunday, NASCAR's GEICO 400 live stream and televised race arrives on the schedule as "The Chase" officially begins. It's NASCAR's Sprint Cup edition of the playoffs, and this year's version will include an unprecedented 13 drivers after Jeff Gordon was recently added to the field. The latest NASCAR live stream and TV race will be presented thanks to the ESPN networks on Sunday afternoon.

A Sept. 14 report via ESPN noted that NASCAR made the historic move to add a thirteenth driver to this years Chase -- Jeff Gordon. Gordon was added into the field after an incident occurred at the Richmond race in which Michael Waltrip Racing was said to have attempted to alter the race finish and standings leading to The Chase. Not only was Gordon added, but Martin Truex Jr. was removed for his part in the incident at Richmond, and Ryan Newman was added into the Chase contenders.

Gordon was relieved when he learned of his addition to the lineup and told the media:

"I'll admit, it's been a rough week. It was a lot of ups and downs of emotions for this entire team. I'm very thankful to be in, and I know it's under the most unbelievable circumstances I've ever been a part of in my racing career, and I wish that all of this hadn't happened. Now here we are as a 13th car and in, now we just try to take that opportunity and make the most of it."

The other eleven drivers competing in The Chase for the Sprint Cup will be: Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Joey Logano, Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kurt Busch and Kasey Kahne. Last year's Sprint Cup champion, Brad Keselowski, was eliminated from contention during qualifying for the GEICO 400 as Logano won the pole, edging out his teammate who qualified second for today's race.

Logano recorded a lap of 189.414 moh at the Chicagoland Speedway track this past Friday which put him on the pole for Sunday's GEICO 400 race. Logano was said to have qualified for The Chase thanks in part to the incident that occurred at Richmond last weekend as well.

Qualifying third for the GEICO race was Juan Pablo Montoya, followed by Kasey Kahne and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Only Kahne is among the other Chase contenders in the first five cars in today's lineup. Jeff Gordon will be sixth, with Greg Biffle seventh and Carl Edwards in eighth. Lowe's driver Jimmie Johnson is ninth, with Matt Kenseth at the ten spot. The full GEICO 400 lineup can be seen here.

Sunday's GEICO 400 race has a start time of 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, with Sprint Cup Chase coverage starting at 1 p.m. ESPN is advertising the televised coverage for cable and satellite customers starting at 1 p.m. In addition, select customers may have access to WatchESPN through their cable or satellite service, and will be able to watch live streaming online coverage of the race on laptops, mobile devices, Apple TV and other devices.
