Formerly known as “Mosport” to race fans in the Buffalo-Niagara region, Bowmansville, Ontario’s Canadian Tire Motorsport Park will host the first-ever Camping World Truck Series race in Canada on Sunday, September 1st. The Chevrolet Silverado 250 also marks the first time the Truck Series has navigated the twists and turns of a road course in 13 years. Joining the Truck Series on the 2.459-mile road course are the Canadian Touring Car Championship and the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
CTMP is a multi-track facility which also features a 0.5-mile paved oval, a driver training facility and 0.87-mile karting track. The track was purchased by Canadian Motorsports Ventures in June 2011; one of the principals of that group is “road course ringer” Ron Fellows.
On-track action kicks off on Friday, August 30th with Truck Series practice at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. On Saturday, August 31st, Canadian Touring Car Championship qualifying opens the day at 8:45 a.m., followed by two rounds of Truck Series practice at 9:30 a.m. and noon, and two rounds of Canadian Tire Series practice at 10:40 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. The first Canadian Touring Car Championship race of the weekend goes green at 3 p.m., followed by Canadian Tire Series qualifying at 4 p.m. and Truck Series qualifying at 5:05 p.m.
