NASCAR racing and speed street festival in Charlotte this weekend

This Memorial Day weekend is the much anticipated Coca-Cola 600 racing series along with days of activities leading up to the race. There’s much to see on-and-off the track at Charlotte Motor Speedway and in the streets of Uptown Charlotte.

Thursday-Saturday 12 pm – 11 pm: Food Lion Speed Street Festival- A showcase of food, vendors, two stages of entertainment, and appearances from Sprint Cup Drivers throughout the event. This is a free event and takes place in Uptown Charlotte. Visit www.600festival.com for the event schedule.

Events at Charlotte Speedway:

Thursday 7:10 pm: LiftMaster Pole Day-NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers determine the 43-car lineup for Sunday’s race by completing single car runs. Tickets are $20 for adults and free for children 13 and under.

Friday 11 am: Coca-Cola Family Track Walk 7 Summer Cookout-600 Race ticket holders will enjoy a free lunch and refreshments. There will be special guest appearances from drivers Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle, Denny Hamlin, Jeff Burton, and Ned Jarrett.

Friday 7:30 pm: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series dirt track battle. A driver autograph session starts at 4:30 pm.

Saturday 2:45 pm: Experience the final NASCAR Sprint Cup practice session before the 600 Race on Sunday doubled with the Global RallyCross—watch drivers advance through series of timed heats of races and high-action jumps.

Sunday 6:19pm: The Coca-Cola 600 featuring drivers of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the patriotic pre-race salute to the United States military troops.
