The following is a list of the NASCAR odds for drivers to win the 2014 Cheez-It 355, which is being run on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York, which is in the Finger Lakes. Race time is 1 pm and the race is on ESPN on TV.
In addition to the drivers win odds, I'm also listing how many times each driver has won at Watkins Glen, and how many wins each driver has so far this year. As you can see below, Marcos Ambrose is favored to win the 2014 Cheez-It 355, and there's two very good reasons for that.
Watkins Glen is one of two road courses on the NASCAR circuit, and road course races are definitely different than most NASCAR races. The drivers odds this week are pretty indicative of that fact.
NASCAR odds for 2014 Cheez-It 355 at Watkins Glen, Marcos Ambrose favored
1. Marcos Ambrose - 5 to 1
Marcos Ambrose is the betting favorite to win the Cheez-It 355 at Watkins Glen at odds of 5 to 1. Ambrose is likely the favorite because of his past success on the Watkins Glen road course.
Marcos Ambrose won this race in back-to-back years, 2011 and 2012, and last year he led the race for 51 of the first 61 laps run before he encountered trouble and got caught up in a wreck. Ambrose has no wins this season.
T-2. Brad Keselowski - 7 to 1
Brad Keselowski has yet to win at Watkins Glen, but he has finished second in each of the last three years here accounting for his low odds. Keselwoski has wins at Las Vegas, Kentucky, and New Hampshire in 2014.
T-2. Kyle Busch - 7 to 1
Kyle Busch is 7 to 1 odds because he won last year's Cheez-It 355, and he also won the race in 2008. Kyle Busch's lone win this season was back in March in California.
4. Kevin Harvick - 8 to 1
Kevin Harvick won this race back in 2006, and he has wins this season at Phoenix and Darlington.
T-5. Jimmie Johnson - 10 to 1
Watkins Glen is one of the few NASCAR tracks that Jimmie Johnson has yet to conquer, but he does have two third place finishes in this race. Jimmie Johnson has wins this season at Charlotte, Dover, and Michigan.
T-5. Clint Bowyer - 10 to 1
Clint Bowyer has yet to win at Watkins Glen. Bowyer has no wins this season unless you want to count the NASCAR Sprint Showdown during all-star week.
T-5. Jeff Gordon - 10 to 1
Jeff Gordon has four wins at Watkins Glen (1997, 1998, 1999, 2001) but his last win here was in 2001. Gordon has wins at Kansas City and Indianapolis this year.
T-8. Tony Stewart - 12 to 1
Tony Stewart is winless this season, but he has won at Watkins Glen a record five times (2002, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009).
T-8. Joey Logano - 12 to 1
Joey Logano has never won at Watkins Glen, but he has wins at Texas and Richmond in 2014.
T-8. Kurt Busch - 12 to 1
Kurt Busch has yet to win this race, but he won at Martinsville this season at big odds.
T-8. A.J. Allmendinger - 12 to 1
No wins here for Allmendinger or on the season.
T-12. Jamie McMurray, Carl Edwards - 25 to 1 odds each
Carl Edwards has no wins at Watkins Glen, but he has wins at Bristol and Sonoma this year. Sonoma is the other road course on the NASCAR circuit. McMurray has never won this race, but he did win the all-star race this season.
T-14. Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman - 30 to 1
No wins at Watkings Glen or on the season for this pair at 30 to 1 odds each.
15. Martin Truex - 50 to 1
No wins here or on season.
T-16. Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle, Denny Hamlin, Paul Menard, Kyle Larson, Brian Vickers, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. - 60 to 1
No wins at Watkins Glen for any of these seven drivers at 60 to 1 odds each. On the season, only Denny Hamlin (Talladega) and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (Daytona and Poconos sweep) have wins.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. just won last week at Pocono for the second time this season. He'd never won there before this season, and the 60 to 1 odds this week are tempting at Watkins Glen.
T-23. Casey Mears, Aric Almirola, Austin Dillon, Justin Allgaier, Boris Said, Danica Patrick - 100 to 1
No wins at Watkins Glen for this bunch at 100 to 1. Only Amirola (Daytona) has a win on the season.
Juan Pablo Montoya won at Watkings Glen in 2010, and Tony Stewart has had great success here too. If you believe Indy car drivers do better on a road course, you have to give Danica Patrick at least some shot to win this week. In any case, she is hot.
- Field of All Other Drivers - 200 to 1
