Rain at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday cancelled on-track activity for both the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup series. As a result, the weekend practice and qualifying schedules were modified, cancelling Nationwide qualifying that was scheduled for Saturday in favor of practice time for the series that was missed on Friday.
With qualifying cancelled, the first 32 positions starting grid for Saturday's Sam's Town 300 Nationwide Series race was set based on owner's points, with Brian Vickers taking the poll and Trevor Bayne the other front-row starting stop.
Third through 10th at the green flag on Saturday will be Brian Scott, Austin Dillon, Ty Dillon, Brad Keselowski, Sam Hornish Jr., Parker Kligerman, Reed Sorenson and Justin Allgaier.
The 33rd starting spot went to 2000 series champion Jeff Green in the form of the past champion's provisional. Positions 34-40 were set based on the current points standings as they would normally as provisional spots.
With 43 drivers on hand expecting to make qualifying attempts, three were left without starting spots for Saturday. They include Chase Miller, Brendan Gaughan and Kevin Swindell.
