Kasey Kahne, driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet SS for Hendrick Motorsports, spent Wednesday, July 23, in the Buffalo area promoting the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series' upcoming New York race, the Cheez-It™ 355 at The Glen. According to a press release from WGI, Kahne's appearances were on behalf of Watkins Glen International. He visited Pole Position Raceway at the Walden Galleria Mall in Buffalo, N.Y. and the GM Tonawanda Engine Plant in Tonawanda, N.Y.
“The Cheez-It 355 race weekend is right around the corner, August 7-10, and Kasey's visit with fans, right here in my hometown, has been amazing,” stated Michael Printup, President of Watkins Glen International. “We are thrilled to be guests of Pole Position Raceway and the GM Tonawanda Engine Plant, because it is with their support and the support of our sponsors and fans that we can continue to host New York’s only annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race weekend.”
Kahne began the day at Pole Position Raceway inside the Walden Galleria Mall in Buffalo, NY. Pole Position Raceway is a legendary indoor motorsports entertainment facility that boasts the fastest electric karts on the east coast. Pole Position Raceway is a destination for racers and race fans alike.
Kahne commenced the excitement doing what he does best, racing. While the karts at the Pole Position Raceway do not reach the speeds of Kahne’s No. 5 Farmers Insurances Chevrolet SS, Kahne gave the media a preview of his competitive edge by setting the best lap and giving them a chance to beat his time.
Making another Buffalo area pit stop at the GM Tonawanda Engine Plant, Kahne met with GM joint leadership and guests, and received a plant tour of the GEN 5 product line.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend starts off with the Bully Hill Vineyards 125 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race Friday, August 8, followed by the Nationwide Series Zippo 200 Saturday, August 9, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Cheez-It™ 355 at The Glen Sunday, August 10.
