Jeff Gordon, current leader in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings for the 2014 season, is scheduled to make an appearance at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut on Thursday, September 18. The driver of the No. 24 AARP Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet will be working with Lime Rock to raise money to help alleviate hunger among Americans aged 50 and over. Gordon's team owner, Rick Hendrick, will also be on hand for the event.

Lime Rock Park chose AARP's Drive to End Hunger as its official charity for this season, so while NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series does not race at this track located in the Connecticut Berkshires, Gordon and his team have a strong reason to visit.

According to a press release from Lime Rock, supporters are invited to make donations in increments honoring Gordon's No. 24 car -- for example, for a $24 donation, fans can see hosted interviews of Jeff Gordon and Rick Hendrick.

For a $240 donation, supporters can enjoy a wine-tasting dinner with Gordon and Hendrick at The Falls Village Inn with the featured wine the driver's own, Jeff Gordon Wine. As part of the evening, a charity auction will take place for significant items such as a VIP weekend for two at the 2015 Daytona 500. Online bidding may be available, too.

Finally, for a $2,400 donation, up to three people will be driven around the track in hot laps by Jeff Gordon himself. Each "Ride Along with Jeff" ends with a photo opportunity on pit lane.

All donations in all increments are tax deductible and will be used to help hungry seniors over 50 in the Litchfield, Southern Berkshire, and Eastern Duchess Counties areas.

The track set the goal of raising $96,000 this year for AARP's Drive to End Hunger, and says it is half-way there. Earlier this year, it organized a meal-packing event where 250 volunteers packed 24,000 meals to distribute to local food banks, pantries, and soup kitchens.
