NASCAR at Las Vegas: Cup qualifying rained out, Nationwide qualifying cancelled

Sprint Cup Series qualifying from Las Vegas Motor Speedway was rained out on Friday, meaning 2012 champion Brad Keselowski will start from the pole in Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 500, which takes the green flag at noon PT/3 p.m. ET. Starting outside the front row is Clint Bowyer, followed by Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne and Greg Biffle. Denny Hamlin, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon round out the top 10.

NASCAR also cancelled Nationwide Series qualifying for Saturday’s Sam’s Town 300, going green at 1:15 p.m. PT/4:15 p.m. ET, so Brian Vickers will start on pole as the owners’ points champion from 2012 (Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 20 Toyota), with Trevor Bayne starting on the outside pole (Roush-Fenway Racing’s No. 6 Ford). Brain Scott, Austin Dillon, Ty Dillon, Brad Keselowski, Sam Hornish Jr,. Parker Kligerman, Reed Sorenson (subbing for injured Michael Annett) and Justin Allgaier complete the top 10.
