NASCAR and IndyCar get ready for Father's Day

No other sport features such rich family tradition and father-son lineage as racing, where iconic names like Petty, Earnhardt, Jarrett, Andretti and France have been made famous across generations. Even the love of the sport is passed down from father to son, and this important bond is celebrated at nearly every dinner table and living room in the country as one generation shares their passion for speed with the next.

To celebrate the fathers of stock car legends and highly passionate NASCAR fans alike, NASCAR recently announced “NASCAR with DAD,” a Father’s Day platform built around memorable NASCAR moments with Dad. As part of the platform, NASCAR and its Official Partners Goodyear, 3M and Ford have teamed up to create the #NASCARwithDAD Sweepstakes. Fans entering have a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime Goodyear Blimp Ride for two high above Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

“For generations, the bonds between parents and children have been cemented through sharing memorable NASCAR experiences,” said Matt Shulman, NASCAR managing director of marketing platforms. “This campaign celebrates those special Father’s Day memories through the lens of NASCAR.”

This all-inclusive VIP experience at the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway includes $500 travel cash and hospitality, and a driver meet and greet. Fans can also win one of 10 NASCAR Racing Experience prize packages to feel the thrill of driving a NASCAR-style stock car with their Dad.

To win these unforgettable prizes, fans can enter the #NASCARwithDAD Sweepstakes by visiting the NASCAR website from now through 11:59 p.m. on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 15.

NASCAR fans are encouraged to share their most memorable NASCAR moments with Dad on social media using the hashtag #NASCARwithDAD. Those fans who visit the website to share content by clicking the “share your stories” tab can link their Father’s Day tributes directly to their Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts.

In a recent interview for My Life As A Dad, Indy 500 pole-sitter Ed Carpenter, father of three, discussed balancing career and family life saying, "I'm blessed to have an amazing wife, I think that is the biggest thing. Behind every dad, a good dad, is an even better mom."

On Father’s Day weekend, Michigan International Speedway and Official NASCAR Partners Ford, Goodyear, 3M and Sprint will be surprising fans at track with unique experiences.

IndyCar race car driver and Dancing With The Stars champion Hélio Castroneves is a father-of-one, to daughter Mikaella, 4. While chatting with My Life As A Dad about what being a dad really means to him, he said, "At the end of the day, it's the best thing that could ever happen in my life."

On whether he wants Mikaella to also drive race cars one day, he admits, "She loves racing, and I don't want her to drive race cars." "I don't. That's why I did Dancing With The Stars...I wanted her to see it. She loved it!"

My Life As A Dad is the first show of its kind to delve into the lives of celebrity and professional athlete dads to get their answers to important questions, such as how they feel about being a dad, their parenting philosophies, how they balance their family life with their professional life and, in some cases, how they relate their unique upbringing to being a dad today. The series features interviews with the likes of actor/comedian Tom Arnold, Dancing with the Stars winner J.R. The stars of NASCAR take to the mile and a half oval at Charlotte for the Coca Cola 600 on Sunday, while IndyCar tackles the two and a half mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Indy 500. Kurt Busch and his step-son will enjoy both races, as the self described "Outlaw" attempts the "double."
