NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers Marcos Ambrose, Carl Edwards, and Kasey Kahne will appear at The Bog, a special area inside the Watkins Glen International (WGI) racetrack, during the 2014 Cheez-It at The Glen. The announcement was made via press release by WGI on Monday, August 4.
According to Watkins Glen International, fans who purchase a ticket to The Bog area in addition to gate admission will have the opportunity to ask questions of No. 99 Cheez-It driver Carl Edwards as well as Marcos Ambrose and Kasey Kahne on Sunday, August 10 prior to the featured race of the weekend.
The Bog, named after the famed "bog" of the Glen in decades gone by, is located trackside near Turn 11, a spot that offers a particularly close view of the cars on track. Sponsored by Red Cat, the enclosed special area offers refreshments and other amenities, driver appearances up-close among them.
Edwards returns to Watkins Glen hoping to add to his wins at the historic road course where he won the Zippo 200 Nationwide race in 2012. Ambrose won the Sprint Cup races at the Glen in consecutive years 2010 and 2011. Kahne treated supporters of this year's race at The Glen to an appearance last month at a promotional event in Buffalo and placed second to Jeff Gordon in the recent Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis.
“The Bog is a huge hospitality area where fans can enjoy trackside racing all weekend,” stated Michael Printup, President of Watkins Glen International. “They not only get a great view of both Turns 10 and 11, but they get to participate in multiple Q&A sessions. It is a fun place to spend the weekend and it is supported by a great wine partner!”
Races for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend at The Glen August 7 - 10 include the Bully Hill Vineyards 125 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race Friday, August 8; the Nationwide Series Zippo 200 Saturday, August 9; and the feature race for the weekend, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Cheez-It™ 355 at The Glen on Sunday, August 10.
