Sometimes, it’s the most exciting race of the season, sometimes, the one that leaves fans pulling out their hair. Either way, the Sprint All-Star Race, originally known as The Winston, is a Saturday night shootout for the money and the glory – no points involved. This year’s event goes green Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Drivers eligible for the event must meet one of the following criteria – win a race in the current or preceding year, win the Sprint Cup in the last 10 years, win the All-Star Race in the last 10 years, finish top two in the Sprint Showdown non-winners race or win the Sprint Fan Vote. The following drivers are on this year’s entry list:

· Greg Biffle

· Kurt Busch

· Kyle Busch

· Dale Earnhardt Jr.

· Carl Edwards

· Jeff Gordon

· Denny Hamlin

· Kevin Harvick

· Jimmie Johnson

· Kasey Kahne

· Matt Kenseth

· Brad Keselowski

· Joey Logano

· Jamie McMurray

· Ryan Newman

· David Ragan

· Tony Stewart

· Martin Truex Jr.

· Brian Vickers

Jimmie Johnson, winner of the last two Sprint All-Star Races, leads all drivers with four wins in the event; Kansas winner Jeff Gordon, along with the late Dale Earnhardt, has three wins in the event.

Qualifying for the Sprint Showdown gets underway Friday, May 16th at 4:10 p.m. ET, with the non-winner’s qualifying race going green at 7:15 p.m. ET. Qualifying for the Sprint All-Star Race begins Saturday, May 17th at 7:10 p.m. ET, followed by the All-Star Race at approximately 9 p.m. ET.
