NASA's Ares I X rocket launch is delayed because of high winds

NASA’s Ares I-rocket was scheduled to launch at 8 am EST, but officials said the launch has been rescheduled several times this morning at Kennedy Space Center in Florida due to wind delays.

The Ares I-rocket NASA launch is a test for the vehicle that may be used for future visits that would return astronauts to the moon. The 327-foot rocket is unmanned and will help NASA collect additional information.

"Ares I-X will bring NASA one step closer to its exploration goals to return to the moon for ambitious exploration," NASA said in statement. The original time for launch was scheduled for 8:00 am, then 9:24 am, and now 9:44 am, but they said that it could take anytime up until noon EST this morning to launch.

The rocket launch can be viewed live on CNN or on the NASA.gov website
