NASA and the Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA) entered into an agreement today to promote STEM through the infusion of educational content from NASA into BGCA activities nationwide. The Space Act Agreement focuses on reaching underrepresented members of the nation's diverse population through hands-on activities designed by NASA.
The agreement was signed by Leland Melvin, former space shuttle astronaut and associate administrator for education at NASA. The Boys and Girls Club is an after-school club with over 4,000 locations which serves over 4 million children nationwide.
The partnership hopes to inspire young boys and girls to become the "next generation of explorers", according to the agency's press release.
