Napoli defeats Genoa in round 31 of Serie A but still far from leader Juventus

SSC Napoli wins round 31 of Serie A against Genoa 2-0 on Saturday. Despite the win, Napoli is still nine points away from the leaders, Juventus FC, with only eight games left to the Italian soccer season.

ESPN Deportes reported that Napoli scored the two goals during the first half of the game. The first was scored by Macedonian forward Goran Pandev in the 18th minute. The second goal came in the 29th minute by Swiss midfielder Blerim Dzemaili.

SSC Napoli held their victory throughout the rest of the second half. They did have a failed penalty in the 65th minute by leading scorer Edinson Cavani.

Genoa played a good game by possessing the ball longer but could not find the back of the net with 14 shots total. Napoli had 19 shots.

Serie A only has eight games left to the season, and Napoli is running out of time as far as catching up with Juventus who is nine points ahead.

Napoli’s next game is against third place AC Milan next Sunday.
