As summer comes to a close, Naperville's CityGate Centre is sizzling on August 22 and 23 for the twelfth annual Naperville Wine Festival. Presented by Calamos Investments and Celebrity Cruises, guests will be able to sample more than 300 wines, Belgian beers and delicious food offerings.
“After 12 years hosting this event in the Naperville community, the Naperville Wine Festival has become a beloved late-summer tradition for residents,” said Scott Janess, organizer of the Naperville Wine Festival. “We are thankful for the support we have received from Calamos Investments, Celebrity Cruises and our other sponsors, and look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.”
This annual event draws thousands of guests from the area. The two day affair allows wine aficionados and novices to taste numerous vineyards and varietals. With 300 wines in the tasting options, guests can try favorites like Cupcake Vineyards or something more complex like Duckhorn Winery.
In addition to the exceptional wine, eight of the area's best restaurants will be sharing some delicious dishes. Savory signature dishes and sweet treats will be available for sale. A few of the food options include dishes from Eddie Merlot's, Sugar Toad, Sharko's BBQ and Guilty Pleasurez Cupcakes.
The BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois Entertainment Stage will feature live music by the Lloyd Dobler Effect and others scheduled to perform. New this year will be a cruise giveaway, offered by presenting sponsor Celebrity Cruises. Enter-to-win opportunities will be hosted in the Celebrity Cruises hospitality area at the festival.
Tickets for the festival are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Each ticket includes 12 wine tastings, one pint of any beer available at the festival, wine seminars, musical entertainment, a souvenir wine glass, and the opportunity to purchase wine at a discount.
Designated Driver tickets are $15 and include two non-alcoholic drinks, wine seminars, musical entertainment, and a souvenir wine glass upon departure. Those under 21 are admitted free when accompanied by a paid adult.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will help support the Naperville Area Humane Society. Event hours are 4-10 p.m. on Friday and 3-9 p.m. on Saturday with sampling and sales ending one half hour prior to close.
The festival is located at CityGate Centre, the corporate campus of Calamos Investments, which is located at the intersection of I-88 and Route 59. There is ample free parking on-site.
