Over the summer, Naperville Public Library (NPL) hosted a contest for kids to design the new children’s library card. On November 6, NPL will celebrate the students who submitted designed and the ultimate winner.
The winner of the NPL children’s library card contest was Olivia Carlson, a Naperville fifth grade student. Her design was chosen over 250 other designs submitted by students in grades three to five.
At 2 pm, the Nichols Library will host a debut party for the new card. The event is free and open to the public. The party will include special guests, contest winner, Olivia Carlson, 19 design contest semi-finalists, Contest Judges: City of Naperville Mayor A. George Pradel, Naperville Public Library Board Secretary Sandy Benson and Director of Community & Government Relations, Edward Hospital & Health Services, Naperville businessman Ray Kinney, Partner of Maclyn Group and President of Minuteman Press Naperville, Naperville Public Library Executive Director John Spears and Naperville Public Library Graphic Designer Steve Lee.
All three Naperville Public Library locations will issue the new cards. The replacement cards for all ages will be free from November 6 through November 14. The Nichols Library will issue cards immediately following the debut party. The 95th Street location and the Naper Blvd location will issue cards from 1 till 5 pm.
