Napa interactive art event promises a Mother's Day outing that defies description

May 6, 2010

There's simply nothing as interesting as NIMBASH going on this weekend in the North Bay. Bring an art-loving Mom to the St. Helena event this Saturday at 5:30 for "an uproarious arty party, an interactive art experience with a Paint-by-Numbers mural, a Pollock paddle, areas to sculpt, paint, print and draw, and a print and pottery room." And Napa wine, of course.

This is not a kids event. It's a kids art camp for adults... for the kids.

This first annual gala-celebration-auction benefits Nimbus Arts, a Napa Valley community art center that provides art programming and scholarships, and collaborates in community-wide art happenings in the Napa Valley.

Nimbus Arts art classes for kids go way beyond pink paint on Valentines Day.

One-day classes average about $40 and the materials justify it. Ongoing classes are as little as $10/class. Great summer children's art classes at Nimbus Arts this year:
Clay all day - June 14-18
Farm Fresh (Science and Art on the Farm) - August 2-6
Camp Gaudi (Art, Mosaic, and Architecture) - August 9-13
Horse Camp (Horsy art and real riding) - date TBA

Keep your eye on the Nimbus Arts website for the complete schedule of summer kids art classes and art camps in the Napa Valley.

Super hands-on art for lucky St. Helena toddlers (and their Moms and Dads)!
Nimbus Arts hosts an ongoing drop-in toddler art studio every Saturday morning at 9:30 (starting May 15). The kid in you will relish mucking about a mixed media art studio for two glorious hours as much as your little guy will. It's not a free-for-all; sessions are gently guided by the "Fabulous Nimbus Instructors." For $15 you and your 2 to 5-year-old can catch a 90-minute matinee or hang out making art together that someone else will clean up after you're gone. Hmmmm. That's a tough one...

Napa Valley families are indeed fortunate to have a rich art resource like Nimbus Arts available. There are a few spring sessions left and the summer classes are around the corner. 2010 is the community art center's 5th anniversary and NIMBASH is its first annual fundraiser.

Give Mom the most memorable Mother's Day eve outing ever at NIMBASH -- you won't only be supporting local art, you'll be creating it!
