Naomi Judd says daughter Ashley Judd is still not sure if she will run against incumbent Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell for his Kentucky Senate seat in 2014, Politico.com reported on Monday, Jan 8.
In a web interview with Larry King, Naomi said Ashley, an actress and vocal Democrat, is honored to be considered for political office, and has been seriously exploring a possible run against Mitch McConnell.
“OK, here’s the deal. As of right now she [Ashley] doesn’t know. I can tell you she’s very interested in changing the world. And she knows that politics unfortunately right now is one of the ways she could do that. But I made her promise that if she should make the decision, that I’m the first one to know.”
Following the 2012 election in November, The Associated Press reported that Ashley Judd, 44, was already being mentioned as a potential senatorial candidate on the Democrat ticket, but that the actress side-stepped the question of whether she would challenge incumbent Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell.
It has been questioned if Ashley Judd actually lives in Kentucky, but rather lives in Tennessee. Naomi Judd told Larry King that Ashley lives on a farm in Kentucky, just down the road from her.
Ashley Judd, a Golden Globe-nominated actress, is married to three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti. Judd is a native Kentuckian, and her sister Wynonna Judd is a ACM, CMA and Grammy-award winning singer who lives in Frankfort, Ky.
