Supermodel Naomi Campbell was mugged and injured on a Paris street, multiple sources told the New York Post on Friday.
She was reportedly hailing a cab as she was “knocked over and robbed,” and she suffered a torn ligament in the process. She later reported the incident to French police, and as a result, her boyfriend, Vladimir Doronin, has increased her security since the incident.
One source said,
It was terrifying. Naomi believes the assailant had been watching her, casing her out, and waited for a moment to strike when she was alone. She was attacked in the street as she hailed a cab, and robbed.
Her leg was injured as she was violently pushed to the ground. She was understandably very upset and shaken up.
Doronin, a billionaire, flew his girlfriend via his private jet to Vail, Colo. She was treated by a world-class orthopedic surgeon, Dr. J. Richard Steadman, founder of the Steadman Clinic, which has treated many athletes, including Alex Rodriguez, Lindsey Vonn, Amare Stoudemire, and Yao Ming.
Campbell, 42, has been using a wheelchair and crutches to get around following the attack. One source said that reason that the attack, which took place more than a month ago, has not been publicized is because French authorities have asked her not to.
According to the report, not only has Campbell not spoken publicly about the assault, she has not told any friends.
The news is a change of pace for Campbell, who was recently in the news due to her tussles with her co-hosts on "The Face."
