A bright array of chefs, winemakers and wine world luminaries comes together this week on the small island of Nantucket for the 18th consecutive year of the Nantucket Wine Festival, bringing a new series of programs to engage and collaborate with neighbors on the island such as Sustainable Nantucket Program, Island Restaurant Program, Culinary Tent, Island Lodging Program and partnerships with the Sustainable Nantucket Program and a culinary arts program with Nantucket High School.
The event this year welcomes 2013 Luminary of the Year Paul Draper, winemaker at Ridge Vineyards/
This year brings the Harbor Gala plus a winemaker dinner with 20 top vintners from around he globea grand marque experience for "sophisticated wine afficiandos" and The Grand Tastings plus a program of Great Wines in Grand Houses, events in private homes on the island. Other highlights include educational seminaries and the opportunity to mingle with top winemakers and culinary stars.
Festivities get under way Wednesday nigth with the Opening Reception at The White Elelphant from 5 to 7 p.m. to kick off a much awaited series of wine-related activities and learning opportunities.
