NaNoWriMo Midpoint Inspiration - Movies About Writers

For all the writers participating in National Novel Writing Month aka NaNoWriMo, here is a list of some movies about writers and writing for you to watch as your carpal tunnel syndrome heals, or you just can't face the keyboard for one more minute. Put in your headphones while you watch and no will know that you're not writing. I won't tell. Plus it's the halfway mark, you deserve a break!

1. The Squid and The Whale - The story of a divorce between a writer and a snobbish professor. Jeff Daniels as Bernard is the insufferable professor who can't abide Philistines. Laura Linney plays the writer who is quietly writing away and growing. The effects of the break up on their two sons is interesting and heartbreaking. Jesse Eisenberg plays Walt the oldest son who seems to be following in his father's elitist annoying footsteps. Watch the trailer here:

2.Capote The story of the development of Truman Capote's book In Cold Blood. See how Capote got nonfiction to read like fiction. Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman. Watch the trailer here:

3. Sideways This film deals with two men approaching middle age and a trip to the wine country before one of them makes a trip down the aisle. Paul Giamatti plays a teacher who is an aspiring writer with a book awaiting a publisher's yay or nay. The scene in the fast food joint will kill you. You will laugh your ass off at the wine nerd moments.Watch the trailer here:

4. Tamara Drewe A writer's retreat hosted by a successful and pretentious author Nicholas Hardiment is brought to life when a local journalist returns to her home next door. Wonderful farce with all the writer characters brought to life. Watch the trailer here:

5. Misery Dream of becoming a popular writer with fans and fame? This movie might cure you. Insert evil laugh here. Watch trailer here:
