Nanny state football (Photos)

This weekend a vast majority of Americans are going to sit back and enjoy one of our nation's past times, which is of course the Superbowl. The championship game for our most popular and easily our most violent sport will be consumed at home and across the world. Earlier this week, President Obama decided to way in with his opinion about the violence in football. It comes as no surprise that the president feels the sport is too violent, it is a violent game. He has suggested that if he had a son he would really have to think about letting him play football. And in case you were wondering, that is how your government and this president make policy, based on emotion and with total disregard for other peoples rights.

It's a great thing that President Obama would be reflective about the physical violence in football and how would affect his son if he had one. The problem is that when the president decides he doesn't like something, we end up getting executive orders or new legislation banning those things that he doesn't like. He doesn't listen to the Congress, he doesn't listen to the Senate, and doesn't listen to us. It is one size fits all and it is he who knows what's best. Last time I checked that's called a monarchy.

The Superbowl coaches and players pushed back but not because they're not Obama supporters necessarily. They pushed back because he's actually playing their livelihood and that is something did they didn't vote for. Some of them even echoed some common sense suggesting that they knew the risks of the game beforehand but found that the benefits outweigh the risk. Some of them have become millionaires a couple times over. The American people can continue to sit back and allow government to take away rights. They can believe that it's okay because they agree with it the presidents positions on guns or football or illegal immigration. At some point however, there will not be anyone to help them defend the rights they don't agree with being taken away. Enjoy your Superbowl Sunday while it lasts because in a few years we may be left with nothing but another type of football on the tele.
