House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi ventured to Austin, Texas, according to an August 27, 2013 KEYE TV story, and ridiculed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s campaign to defund Obamacare. Pelosi, who once famously said that Congress had to pass the Affordable Care Act in order to find out what was in it, was visiting Austin for National Equality Day to commemorate the fight for equal rights of women, proclaimed that resistance to Obamacare is futile.
“Somebody asked me today if I thought it was a political stunt and I said it doesn't even rise to the level of a stunt. It’s a total waste of time and it's not going to happen. I think he knows that.”
As problems and delays mount in advance of the final implementation of Obamacare, Cruz and other senators such as Rand Paul, Mike Lee, and Marco Rubio have proven undaunted in the face of criticism by both Democrats and Republicans. Cruz’s position is that denying funding for Obamacare is the sole certain means of stopping the health care reform law.
