This for many might be yet another reason to express disinterest in our politicians in Washington. When Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee appeared on Michael Jackson's memorial she in so many words promised the family, friends, and fans of MJ that a resolution would be passed in Congress honoring him (see video below), but now that looks like it will not happen. Nancy Pelosi has shot it down. According to TMZ and USA Today.
In a news conference moments ago on Capitol Hill, Pelosi said that while Jackson was "a great performer," a resolution "will open up two contrary views that are not necessary at this time to be expressed."
"Michael Jackson was a great, great performer," Pelosi said. "Lots of sadness there for many reasons."
But, she added, "I don't think it is necessary for us to have a resolution."

Update: Leon Buck, the congresswoman's chief of staff, promises a response to Pelosi's comments. In a phone interview, Buck said Jackson Lee is "gathering her thoughts" and will put out a statement later today.

Seems a hypocrite"lot of sadness there for many reasons".Becoz of hostile,judgmental people like her who made his life hell & are still doing so in his death.They have no evidence against this man,cleared completely in USA law.Shes upholding a public kangaroo court.Slander.Whatever reservations,people have to give the benefit of the doubt and leave that to God to judge.This unique man raised the profile of the creative arts in America to a stratospheric level.Despite his debts he brought massive revenue to his state & country who shouldnt beg it back from fans,cheek, they owe him one.He worked to help many around the globe.Pelossi's done what to remember, other than shoot down a man recently dead?Who is she to dare belittle/patronise reps like a momma saying no to kids.Thanx to her small minded sort,he is not tobe offically honoured by his country.Iconic,changing modern music for the world, his unconventionality was part of his artistic ways.He's being persecuted.Honour his good deeds.
