Nancy Pelosi attempts comedy in Stop Colbert ad (YouTube VIDEO)

Though many wish she would, Nancy Pelosi better not quit her day job for a career in comedy.  The minority house speaker maven released a YouTube video in which she fights the current status of Super PAC (Political Action Committee) disclosure regarding the money it collects to support their causes.  The name of the law Pelosi is promoting is the Disclosure Act.

Super PACS are basically public endorsements of candidates and causes which are financed by secret contributions.  Pelosi’s concern is that special interests can support Super PACs, like comedian Stephen Colbert’s, without being known.

Colbert was granted permission to have a Political Action Committee in the past and has raised a great deal of Super PAC money.  He has used the money to influence elections.  Recently, he has made headlines with his Herman Cain ads in South Carolina encouraging people to vote for Cain since Colbert, himself, didn’t get on the ballot in time.  Cain, of course, was already out of the presidential race, but his name remained on the South Carolina ballot.

The biggest problem with Pelosi’s ad is that you have to understand what a Super PAC is, as well as some political history regarding Pelosi and Newt Gingrich’s dated-ad to even understand the current Pelosi post.

In the video presentation, nonetheless, Pelosi promotes a Facebook page which informs the public about the Disclosure Act – the same one which failed to be passed in 2010.   If it passes this time around, it’s pretty safe to say that it won’t be because of this video advertisement.
