The early years of adulthood can be very tough on young people. Becoming "of age" is extremely demanding on the soon-to be adult. The increasing numbers of our young people with depression attests to the pressure we place on them. Good grades, college, fit in with friends, relationships, and, God forbid if a youngster fails to graduate from high school!

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), recently launched an innovative on-line community for young adults. The ages of 18 to 25 have been identified as a critical time to reach those young people living with mental health concerns.

The site, appropriately named Strengthofus.org, is a fun environment, an interactive site perfect for the sharing of experience and information. There are discussion boards and places for young people to post photos. Site users also exchange personal stories and support their peers.

An interesting fact is that the website was developed by young adults, the very age group serviced by this much needed site.

Resources available on-site include information on healthy relationships, family and friends, finances, employment, and health/mental health issues.
