The names of Sandy Hook victims were remembered by the chiming of bells in Newtown, Conn. on the one year anniversary of the shooting that claimed the lives of 26 people. On Dec. 15, NewsOXY reported that it was a somber day in Newtown as residents remembered the day that unthinkable tragedy changed their lives forever.

"We’re here to remember the children and staff, to remember every victim of gun violence," said Carole Stark of the Brady Bill Campaign -- which supports mandatory background checks for firearm sales. "Nothing has happened. It’s been a year, and Congress has done nothing. It’s just appalling. Our nation is better than this," Stark added.

The names of the Sandy Hook victims also popped up on social media sites in beautiful tribute photos shared by hundreds of users. The elementary school shooting broke hearts around the country, and the one year anniversary was hard for many.

Last December, gunman Adam Lanza showed up at the school with a gun and went on a rampage. He fired off several shots, killing students and staff members at the school. Several teachers showed heroics, protecting their students in the wake of unthinkable tragedy. They were also remembered on the one year anniversary.

The names of the Sandy Hook victims along with their photos can be seen in the video above.
