The Motgomery County Humane Society MCHS is putting forth great effort to find homes for shelter animals during the month of January. MCHS is allowing adopters can name their own adoption fee for cats, dogs and other animals.

Pet lovers who adopt a dog or cat Jan. 13-31, 2014 will not only give a loving home to a homeless pet, they will ultimately help MCHS save more lives.

Prospective adopters should come prepared. Here's what to bring with you and what to expect:

  • • Government issued ID and proof of address if your current address is not on your ID.
  • • If you rent your home, bring proof of your landlord's approval to have a pet.
  • • Collars, leashes, and cat carriers will be available for purchase, or you may bring your own.

Prospective adopter will fill out an adoption application and meet with MCHS staff to help ensure a good match. The additional license fee which is required of Montgomery County residents, may be paid by credit card (no American Express), check or money order.

Montgomery County Humane Society is the largest animal welfare organization in Montgomery County, providing shelter and care to thousands of homeless animals every year.
