New York Fashion week is behind us now, but we can look forward to seeing the runway styles translated from the big designer shows to the streets of our hometowns. Spring 2014 was fresh faced and lip-centric for most of the designers, with a few exceptions.
Strong lips ruled at Rag & Bone, and Marchesa's shows. Marchesa went pulchritudinous showing a matte face and deep bruise tone on the lips. Rag & Bone showed a variation going for a naked, shiny face with a bright orange, verging on neon lip styled by Revlon's artistic director, Gucci Westman.
Westman hopped over to Oscar de la Renta putting down her orange to pick up on plums. At de la Renta, she showed a natural look with peaches, purples and golds, and left the lips slick with a nude gloss.
Elie Tahari employed Bobbi Brown to create their Spring 2014 face, and came away with pretty, groomed eyebrows and pink matte lips. Everything in between was afternoon-picnic-ready, soft and natural. Jenny Peckham's Edwardian beauties were just a touch of silver eye glitter off from Tahari's look. Peckham went for dewy and ethereal, more twilight, garden party than Central Park.
The Blonds used MAC Cosmetics lead artist, Kabuki, to show a Tweety Bird inspired look, with canary yellow and aqua blue eyeliner standing out on otherwise naked faces. Jem and the Holograms seemed the inspiration for Betsey Johnson's silver and pale pink styling.
