Not hardly. Think trendy native designs based on the 'aina', land, and nature. Fabric and texture of organic origins and natural lines that compliment the body in a laid back mood. Accessories that flaunt the wearer's natural beauty and wholesome features. What? Island couture? You can bet your coconuts it is.
And on October 5, 2013 at the Halau O'Lilinoe Event Center in Carson, proof will be evident at the Na Wehi Sandwich Island Fashion, Food and Music Event. This is a first ever fundraiser for Sandwich Islands Network, the internet radio station hosted by Kamaka Brown and the SIN Krew on a 24/7 streaming program format, at v93FM.com on your computer, iphone, or tablet. Any device that gets you on the internet.
Local designers include Tatau,Show me your Pukana, SoPa, Missing Polynesia, Island Edge, and Hinano.
Musical groups performing during the afternoon: Angelline, Pumana, Mindless Groove and Manny Lagod and the Kolohes.
Co-hosts for the affair: Singer/Actor, Eddie Kaulukukui and Professional Events Hostess, Anamativa Grey Niumata
Food will be available of course, with an island touch by Son Kaio, and a couple of catering trucks under the auspices of Chris Aki to help entice your culinary interests.
