JC Chasez, former member of ‘90s boy band 'N Sync, is heading back out on the road though not with his former bandmates. According to an April 5 report on People, the singer will participate in a reunion tour of the Andrew Lloyd Weber musical, “Jesus Christ Superstar.”

Chasez, 37, will portray Pontius Pilot in North American tour of the 70s rock musical. Appearing with him will be Destiny's Child's Michelle Williams as Mary Magdalene, former Sex Pistol "Johnny Rotten" Lydon as King Herod, Incubus's Brandon Boyd as Judas, and Ben Foster, winner of the U.K.'s Superstar competition, as Jesus.

The 50-date tour was announced on “Good Morning America” on Friday. Chasez says he is looking forward to the experience. "This is honestly my first theater experience, so I'm being thrown into the fire of it but I'm excited because of the fact that we are doing something that feels pretty unique."

The singer called his former bandmates to tell them what he was up to. They were surprised the tour was actually happening and excited for JC to get the chance to do it.

The tour opens on June 9 in New Orleans. It will run throughout the summer and finish in Philadelphia on Aug. 17. Hs good friend, “Glee’s” Matthew Morrison is giving him advice. Morrison has Broadway experience and the two have worked together before. The most important tip Morrison gave him was to 'Learn it front to back. Know it, know it, know it, and then let your body take over and let yourself develop into that character.' So that's what I'm hoping to do."

Tickets for the tour go on sale April 11.
