N. Korea: missiles 'on standby' has become a top trending topic across major search engines this evening after ABC News reported on Friday, March 8, that a general from North Korea has recently come forward to claim that the country is ready for a “preemptive nuclear attack” on both the United States and South Korea if need be.
Under the headline, “N. Korea: Missiles 'on standby'”, sources report that North Korea has a long-range missile armed with nuclear warheads at the ready. Pyongyang announced once again this Thursday morning that the country is willing to let go of all peace pacts with South Korea, and even threaten U.S. grounds.
The North Korean regime added this morning it now intends to sever all hotlines between South and North Korea as part of a “defiant response” to new sanctions they do not agree with that have been imposed by the U.N. Security Council.
Colonel General Pyo-yong was recently quoted discussing these nuclear threats in the North Korean newspaper for the party, Rodong Sinmun. He affirmed his soldiers are already to prepared to launch a war and to take over South Korea when the order is given.
"Our intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and other missiles are on standby position mounted with various nuclear warheads that have been developed lighter and smaller," he announced to tens of thousands gathered Thursday at a rally in Pyongyang.
North Korea has also asserted it is successful in creating greater nuclear arms and posing a nuclear threat this past Feb. 2013, launching its first long-range rocket back in Dec. that has enough speed and power to devastate at least Alaska, and potentially the West Coast of the U.S. with enough range, said the report. Yet weapon experts from Asia report that it may still take years before North Koreans are truly ready to launch a nuclear war, as it will take time for them to consider preparing a warhead small enough for their long-range missiles.
