Week 2 of the 2013 Georgia high school football season will see 16 of Gwinnett County’s teams take the field in nine games. Brookwood (0-1, 0-0), Norcross (0-1, 0-0) and South Gwinnett (0-1, 0-0) are on bye weeks after opening their seasons last Saturday.
Week 2 match-ups:
Archer (1-1, 0-0) will host Mt. View (0-1, 0-0): Look for Archer to win the battle between the two Lawrenceville schools by at least 21.
Buford (1-0, 0-0) has a home contest against Elbert County (0-0, 0-0). The Wolves of Buford are ranked No. 6 in the state, while their opponents are No. 180. Buford will dominate this game, winning by at least four TD’s.
Berkmar (0-1, 0-0) will travel to Duluth (0-0, 0-0). This should be a close game into the third quarter, but the Wildcats should win by 10 or more.
Central Gwinnett (0-0, 0-0) will host Collins Hill (1-0, 0-0). This should be a physical game that will come down to the final minutes. Look for Collins Hill to come out on top by a touchdown.
Dacula (0-0, 0-0) is home against Mill Creek (0-0, 0-0). This will be the first game for both teams and should be tightly contested. Expect Mill Creek to win by 10.
Grayson (0-1, 0-0) will face North Gwinnett (1-0, 0-0) the week after both teams took part in the Corky Kell Classic at the Georgia Dome. Grayson is No. 7 in the state while North Gwinnett is No. 1. NG was solid in their win, while Grayson fell behind early and couldn’t recover in their loss. This should be a good game, but NG is the better team and should win by at least 10.
Lanier (0-0, 0-0) will be on the road to take on Apalachee in Winder. Lanier will be worn down by Apalachee and head home with a two touchdown loss..
Meadowcreek (1-0, 0-0) will travel to Snellville to play the Shiloh Generals (0-0, 0-0). Shiloh should take control of this one early and cost to a 30+ point victory.
The Examiner Gwinnett County Game of the Week for Week 2 is Parkview (0-0, 0-0) and Peachtree Ridge (1-0, 0-0). This game is being overlooked due to the Grayson-North Gwinnett battle, but pits No. 19 Peachtree Ridge at home against No. 25 Parkview. Examiner is going with Peachtree Ridge by 3 because of the home field advantage, but this could be an upset special.
