N’aix slinks into Dota 2

N’aix the Lifestealer drags his wretched corpse into Valve’s Dota 2 beta this evening on Steam, bringing with him a lifeleeching, frenzied body ready to wreak havoc through enemy lines while shrugging off damage with a huge hit point pool and a “Built in Black King Bar”.  Patch notes and beta signups can be found on the official Dota 2 blog.

Older versions of N’aix made playing the carrion crawler a mostly passive task, but the newer incarnations gave N’aix a completely different playstyle and active abilities to back up his vampiric frame.  When we say "newer" to anything Dota related, we mean in the last… 7 years or so.

N’aix is a welcome undead addition to the current Dota 2 beta cast and presents a strength carry option to play around with, ideal for chasing down opposing casters and going toe-to-toe with agility carries and other strength heroes.  While certainly not ideal for initiation, a farmed up N’aix can wade into the fight, pop rage and start leeching while your team can move into position and open up with abilities and attacks.

N’aix is also an excellent choice for snacking on creeps in the jungle, as his draining touch gives him plenty of sustainability and staying power for farming up item builds and allowing him to speed into the lane when his teammate(s) need him.  Placing N’aix in “your” forest early in the game allows a team to pull off a semi “tri-lane” formation where N’aix can comfortably creep and come zooming in for kills or assistance if the enemy pushes up the lane.  This will allow your lanemates to have full deny capability, forcing your opponents to starve on experience and gold or come into range of your potential gank.

N’aix is a welcome addition to the Dota 2 cast as heroes continue to be added to the Valve title on what appears to be regular a weekly basis.
