N. 3rd's crispy chicken sandwich delivers on taste

Northern Liberties is a section of Philadelphia that is often overlooked when considering places to go out to eat, but there are a few places tucked back there you should try, particularly N. 3rd.
From the outside you might not be too impressed: brick walls, some outdoor seating and a few awnings. But on the inside you enter this crazy place. There are two bars inside the restaurant, some booths, tables and high tops. The decoration is out of this world. There is everything from huge butterfly kites, random paintings, puffer fish hanging from the ceiling, fake bats, dolls and more. You name it, it’s probably on the wall or hanging from the ceiling. You'll find something new to focus your eyes on each visit.

The service is usually good – water glasses are kept filled and waiters make sure you have everything you need without being too pesky.

However, don't come here just for the wild décor or the quality service–come for the Crispy Chicken Sandwich ($10). This sandwich is served between two Texas toast size slices of bread (without the toasting), filled with crispy chicken, and topped with guacamole, tomato, bacon and mayo. Often thick bread drowns the actual sandwich, but not in this case. The chicken is fried, however it does not have thick breading or extra fried parts – just lightly breaded and fried to perfection.  The guacamole and tomato blend together perfectly on top and makes this a combination not to be missed. The sandwich is also served with fries and a pickle. The fries are also something to brag about – they would fool me if they weren’t hand cut and the oil they use makes the fries extremely flavorful.
This is certainly one of the best crispy chicken sandwiches in the city.
