Mythbusters Erik Gates dies

For many science teachers, an episode of Discovery Channel's Mythbusters is a great way to show kids how science can be used to solve life's mysteries. Kids are fascinated by rocketry related science experiments, which is what Erik Gates, who was in four Mythbusters episodes, specialized in. Sadly, we will not be able to enjoy any new Mythbusters shows featuring Erik Gates, because, on December 27, 2009, he fell 30 feet through a skylight while doing an electrical job and did not survive the fall.

Creating a few rocketry experiments seems like the perfect way to remember Mr. Gates and his contributions to the show. Alka Seltzer rockets or Mentos soda explosions are two easy and eye catching experiments that never seem to lose their kid appeal.
