Mystery barge sightings in Portland, Maine, and San Francisco are rumored Google projects. These mystery barges just appeared suddenly off the coasts, raising a lot of interesting questions about the intent behind them. According to a report from Wednesday (Oct. 30), these locations are planned as either a data center or a "floating marketing center" for the upcoming Google Glass launch.
It's certainly interesting to note that three large structures of similar design and appearance are going up on the coasts of the United States. If there wasn't already a link to Google through a lot of investigative reporting that has been done, people might start thinking that the military was involved in the construction. They certainly look like something the military would build and might remind someone of something that has come straight out of a science fiction movie like "The Island."
It is clear that there are some big plans in the works with these three mystery barge construction locations and it would make sense for this to be another large-scale Google project. Even if it isn't, Google likely wouldn't deny it, simply because it is providing free advertisement for the company as well as the next evolution of the Google Glass products. As the secret gets closer to being revealed, it also doesn't hurt to hypothesize about what could be inside of those structures.
