Mystery band 'Shone' announce and sell out New York City show

With no revealed members, mysterious local band Shone have announced and subsequently sold out their first show ever at Mercury Lounge in New York City on Feb. 7.

Shortly before the holidays a strange message linking to a website called heatthing.com was spread across various Twitter accounts of different bands such as Thrice, Kevin Devine and Vinnie Caruana (I Am the Avalanche, The Movielife).

The past couple of weeks have featured different clues in what seems to be a viral marketing campaign linked to the likes of Long Island band Brand New. Although it isn't clear to what extent their involvement is, Brand New drummer Brian Lane and Andrew Accardi (Robbers), are both rumored to be part of the project.

The Internet has been buzzing with people searching for clues, finding mysterious letters and the first song, "Piano Wire Number 12."

Although there are many unanswered questions, there have been hints at more clues - and perhaps another new song - being revealed in the coming weeks leading up to the show.
