A mysterious virus, which is similar to the SARS virus, hit its tenth victim in Britain this week sparking a debate on how this virus spreads. Coronavirus is the name given to this mystery illness, according to the Inquistr on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013.
Out of the 10 people to contract the mystery virus, five have died, making the survival rate not looking very promising. The British patient who has this virus is in a Manchester hospital's intensive care unit.
How the disease is transmitted seems to be the question of the hour, as there’s no proof that it goes from human to human. An infectious disease researcher, Michael Osterholm, said the “disease could have been transmitted from animals like bats or camels.”
Out of the 10 cases world-wide, Saudi Arabia had five cases with three of them dying. Two of the cases were in Jordan, where both people infected with the mysterious disease died. This is Britain’s second case and one case was reported in Qatar. There’s still much to be learned about this disease and how it spreads today.
