Mysterious virus spreads, new strand of coronavirus linked to SARS (Photos)

A new mysterious virus is spreading at an alarming rate. According to Reuters via Yahoo!, this new strand of coronavirus that was identified last year and is linked to SARS has emerged in the United Kingdom and the Middle East.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) reports that ten cases of the coronavirus have come into play including five patients in Saudi Arabia, three of whom have passed away. Two more cases were diagnosed in Jordan, both of which resulted in death to the patients.

Meanwhile, two people in Britain and one person in Qatar are said to have been told they have the deathly disease.

That said, medical doctors in the UK confirmed the tenth case of this disease and this person is being treated in a Manchester, England hospital in its intensive care unit.

International Science Times says that the mysterious virus can be likened to SARS, or bird flu. You may remember that there was an epidemic of this ailment back in 2003 that caused concern all over the world because of its many deaths (about 800 out of 8,000 cases) and its horrible symptoms like kidney failure and extreme difficulty breathing.

No information is available as to whether the new virus called coronavirus can easily be passed between one person to another but experts think this is possible within the animal kingdom, especially among bats and camels.

Stay tuned for more on this mysterious, SARS-like virus as it becomes available.
