On Saturday, September 6 at 4:00 pm, Mysterious Galaxy will host a launch party for mystery author Kathy Aarons and her new novel, “Death is Like a Box of Chocolates.” The party will be at Mysterious Galaxy, 7051 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, Suite #302, San Diego.

When Berkley publishing told Aarons they wanted a mystery set in a combination book and chocolate shop, she said her response was, “I couldn’t resist. What could be more perfect?” Obviously, Mysterious Galaxy felt the same because they chose “Death is Like a Box of Chocolates” for their September Fantastic Firsts Cozy Book Club said Aarons

A complete list of those fantastic firsts is available at http://www.mystgalaxy.com/fantasic-firsts-cozy-mystery-series-starters.

In “Death is Like a Box of Chocolates,” chocolatier Michelle and her best friend Erica must pick through an assortment of suspects when the town portrait photographer is murdered or watch the future of their dream store melt away.

Aarons, who says she loves writing, is also passionate about expanding creative writing education for youth. “I volunteer for the Canyon Crest Academy Writing Conference, the only free high school writing conference in the country. One of the speakers noted that because of the inspirational and educational workshops it provides, San Diego is going to have more than its fair share of accomplished authors and writing professionals in the future. I also recently joined the board for Playwrights Project http://playwrightsproject.org/ which expands playwriting education and opportunities for youth and adults.”

With tongue in cheek, Aarons describes her research for this book series, which included sampling chocolate, making chocolate, and hanging out in bookstores, as “such a hardship.” You can learn more about Kathy Aarons on her website at www.kathyaarons.com.
