Mysterious death on Long Island

Few people could ever imagine coming home, after a hard day at work, to make a horrifying discovery in their front yard, such as a severed human head, characterized by a foul odor.

While it may sound like something out of a horror film, that is what happened this past week in Hempstead, New York. On Thursday, a homeowner decided to address the source of a terrible odor how he had smelled in his front yard. In a plastic garbage bag, the homeowner discovered a severed human head in the yard. The body part is believed to have been in the yard about a week.

The horrifying discovery has lead to an extensive investigation that has spread over the line between both Nassau and Suffolk Counties. In Suffolk County, other body parts had been found several days prior. The other set of human remains were found in a parking lot in the Suffolk County town of Bay Shore, located about 25 miles east of Hempstead. The remains discovered in Bay Shore was missing both its head, and arms.

There had also been several other bodies found in the same residential area of Hempstead within the same week, although the other bodies were not believed to be related to this gruesome discovery. While the investigation is still ongoing, the remains are so far believed to be those of a Brooklyn mother, who had been reported missing earlier this month. It is unclear exactly if there are any suspects in the case.

While Long Island has had its share of disturbing crimes, it is nevertheless chilling to hear about such a crime happening. Whoever the victim in this case may turn out to be, he or she was someone's loved one, and one can only hope that this crime will be investigated and solved.
