Jones will represent Florida at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City.
The final night of pageantry and the crowning of a new Miss America will be broadcast live on Sept. 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on the ABC television network.
Jones is the leader of Comfort for Kids, Inc., which provides services for grieving, injured and ill children.
"When I was 12, my younger sister and I were in a terrible accident in which she lost her life," she wrote on her website. "Every day, millions of children are hospitalized due to terminal illness and accidents. It is easy to ignore these numbers until it affects you personally. But, for children diagnosed with terminal illnesses or who have been in traumatic accidents, this is their reality. They live it every day."
"Comfort for Kids Inc. is one of my most cherished projects," she continued. "I started it in honor of my sister. Her favorite animal was her monkey Clarice. I deliver a stuffed animal monkey to every child I visit as a reminder of the time we spent together and to let them know someone is thinking about them. My monkeys have helped raise over $500,000 for Children’s Miracle Network and I have given away 1,400 monkeys to date."
Jones entered the pageant as the reigning Miss Palm Coast. Her pageant talent is baton twirling.
