Mychael Danna wins Oscar for Best Original Score for 'Life of Pi'

The Academy Awards took place on Sunday, February 24 at the Dolby Theatre. In music, Mychael Danna won the Oscar for Best Original Score for the movie "Life of Pi", directed by Ang Lee. This was his first time winning at the Academy Awards

Danna beat out Alexandre Desplat, Dario Marianelli, Thomas Newman and John Williams.

Danna was on hand accepted his award. He thanked Ang Lee, his wife and parents and everyone involved in making the film.

Danna was a double nominee as he was nominated for Best Original Song facing off against Adele and Paul Epworth for her song "Skyfall" from the movie "Skyfall", "Suddenly" from "Les Misérables", "Before My Time" from "Chasing Ice" and "Everybody Needs A Best Friend" from Ted.
The winner was Adele and Paul Epworth for "Skyfall".
