We hear them howl and growl every day, all day.
I’m talking about Republican politicians who so hate the Affordable Care Act that they were willing to disrupt the lives of millions and push the economy to the brink of another recession by shutting down the entire federal government.
Republican sound bite artists like House Speaker John Boehner, House Minority Leader Eric Cantor, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Texas (nee Canadian) neophyte Senator Ted Cruz, Utah’s junior Senator Mike Lee, et al keep hammering away, telling us how ObamaCare, a law passed by both houses of Congress, signed by the president of the United States, and affirmed as constitutional by the Supreme Court, will essentially destroy America as we know it.
What is wrong with ObamaCare?
After all, its primary purpose is to provide affordable health insurance for millions of American men, women, and children.
Who could argue with that?
Yet we see and hear them on every media outlet . . . Republicans ranting about how ObamaCare will kill jobs, seeming to forget that jobs are not retained or created by health care insurance, jobs are retained and created by business and consumer demand for products and services.
Demand equals jobs, no matter which health insurance plan employers offer.
Sorry, but this is a basic economic truth you cannot, unless you’re a Republican, ignore.
Some Republicans love to go on and on about how ObamaCare violates the Constitution of the United States despite the fact that the Supreme Court of the United States has found otherwise.
Other Republicans warn that America can’t afford ObamaCare but they don’t tell us why.
Just this past weekend, Republicans on the Sunday shows had a wonderful time complaining about computer glitches on the opening day of enrollment in ObamaCare . . . as if huge demand for affordable health care that overwhelmed websites portends the destruction of America.
Any American who sets aside his or her ego, fears, prejudices, and politics for even a millisecond, knows that affordable health care for Americans is a good thing.
In light of that truth, we wonder why.
Why do Republicans really hate ObamaCare?
Think about it . . . Republicans really hate ObamaCare because they’re afraid it will work . . . because when ObamaCare works, Americans will like it and they will also like the Democrats who implemented affordable health care for everyone.
Perhaps Republicans secretly regret that ObamaCare couldn’t have been called BoehnerCare.
