“We are all born ignorant but one must work hard to remain stupid.” ~ Benjamin Franklin
Republican Representative Louie Gohmert, representing the good people who live and love in the First Congressional District in Texas, gets $174,000.00 per year in salary plus an outstanding benefits package most Americans will never have and a retirement plan next to none.
Gohmert was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2004 and won a fifth term in the November, 2012 election.
Over the years, Mr. Gohmert has taken approximately $20 million from the public trough in salary, benefits, franking privileges, staffing costs, and expenses.
And one wonders why.
After all, the honorable Congressman Gohmert has done absolutely nothing for his constituents . . . except perhaps embarrass them.
Representative Gohmert is, after all, the member of the United States House of Representatives who thought it would be a good idea to publicly claim that terrorists were busily impregnating women in foreign countries, sending those women to resettle in the United States to raise those children for twenty or so years to adulthood and to then return the children to the father’s home country where they are trained to become terrorists who return to the United States to commit mayhem and murder.
Did Gohmert offer any evidence to substantiate this rather dubious claim?
That isn’t all . . . Gohmert has uttered some fairly outrageous assertions over the years including claims that ‘Radical Islamists’ were entering the United States disguised as Latinos and that United States Senator and Vietnam war hero John McCain is a terrorist.
Any proof of those or any other Gohmert claims?
And he’s still at it.
Just yesterday, Gohmert went on the Steve Malzberg show to claim that President Obama brought thousands of immigrant children from Central America into Texas for political reasons.
Gohmert said, “They (Democrats) have said that they want to turn Texas blue, they want to turn America blue,” and went on to claim that President Obama was determined to “bring hundreds of thousands or millions of people into the U.S. to turn them into Democratic voters.”
Without providing a scintilla of proof, Gohmert concluded by saying, “That drives people to vote and ensure that Republicans don’t ever get elected again.”
Since that would include Republicans working hard to be stupid like Louie Gohmert, I’m wondering, just how bad would that be for America?
