Doug Fieger, singer of 'The Knack' hit 'My Sharona', died from cancer on Sunday at age 57.
'The Knack' is known almost exclusively for their 1979 hit 'My Sharona'. 'My Sharona' became the number one selling rock record of the 1970s, and regained popularity in the 1990s when it was featured in the Winona Ryder film 'Reality Bites'. 'The Knack's' only other two Top 40 hits were 'Good Girls Don't' in 1979 and 'Baby Talks Dirty' in 1980.
Doug Fieger was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2005. Fieger eventually had surgery to remove half of one of his lungs due to tumors and also had surgery to remove brain tumors.
Doug Fieger was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan but moved to Los Angeles to pursue a music career. Fieger was a regular performer on the Sunset Strip club scene in Hollywood during the 1970s. He died Sunday at his home in Woodland Hills, a suburb of Los Angeles.
